Tarutao Island Satun

Tarutao is Island with perfect beaches,
forests and an unforgettable history. In the past ,
this island served as a hideout for pirste and later as an internent for political prisoners. Today , Turutao ,
located in the far south of the Satun Province, is
Thailand most visited National Park and coutrs
,visitors from all over the world.

Location : Mu Koh Tarutao National Park consists
of over fifty islands in the LaNgu District ot the
Satun Province. There Islands stretch as far as the
Steaits of Malaka in the Indian Ocean.
Southern Tarutao lies adjacent to the ocean
border between Thailand and Malaysia.
Resting between Koh Rarutao and the
Loh Adang and Koh Rawi area is Koh Khai. this islsnd is best Known for its imposing stone gate that greets visitors on arrival.

Koh Tarutao

Koh Tarutao : Koh Tarutao, located twenty kilometers from the mainland, is the largest
island in the Satun Province To reach the island, there are boats that can be
chartered from Pakbara Pier. The National Park Office is located on its shores. Not far from here ,
you can find a various selection of accommodations, camping areas, and sumptuous restaurant,
all near the beach. Ao phante Malaka, known as the center of Tarutao, has a trail,
which pass through the fertile forests and connects the Phante Nalaka with both Ao
Chak and Ao Chak and Ao Mao.

Historical Sites: At the south end of the island are Ao Talo Udang Prison and Ao
Talo Wao Prison where political prisoners were once kept. There is also
a twelve-kilometer road constructed by the inmates linking Talo Wao and Talo
Udang together. This road is still in use today.

Phante Malaka Canal

Phante Malaka Canal : Departing from Ao Phante Malaka, tourists can
take a long – tail boat to the canal and see the green forests and the rugged
landscape decorated with variously shaped stones, stalagmites,stalactites
and sheer cliffs.

How to get there
Form the Satun Province, take Highway 406 to
Highway 416 in the Amphoe La Ngu. Then get on to High way 4052
leading to the Pakbara Pier. At the pier there are boats which depart twice a day.
